The trend is digitizing everything as possible

Digital products own unbeatable advantages against traditional products. Smart phones and computers are trying their best to replace traditional paper-based calendar. However, the limitation and weak points of digital calendar prevent itself from overtaking paper-based calendar.

Online survey: Digital calendar vs Paper-based calendar

Calendar users are still using paper-based calendar because they can write and draw anything on paper. Though keyboard input method is faster than hand writing, human nature still prefers hand writing than keyboard typing. However, paper-based calendar has limitation that users are unable to record too many information on one single day due to limited writing space. A new device that provides handwriting input and owns unlimited storage space will substitute and improve the usability of current paper-based calendar. E-ink technology will be used to mimic the texture and character of real paper.

User testing 2

Participants have been asked to exam user flow. UserTest1

In user testing 2, feedbacks are mostly positive. Some minor problems will be changed in digital prototype. Feedback2

Digital prototyping

When you first time open your Cellendar, you will process a short set up section. The digital prototype below allows you to set up your Cellendar, and finish another task.

Demo Instruction:
(You can also find this instruction while experience the demo.)
  1. Find the wifi signal called "YellowEagle" to connect.
  2. Password for wifi is "abcabc".
  3. Pretend you are in "Savannah, GA".
  4. Set a passcode for dashboard as you like.
  5. When you see "IKEA presentation" on 27th, tap on that day and try to delete the event by yourself.
  6. After you delete "IKEA presentation, try to create a new event by yourself.
  7. New event title is "Copier 3d model". Location is "At home".
  8. Try to find out sketch board to (pretend to)draw something attached to this event.
